Suunto X10 GPS Watch Review Detail:

The Suunto x10 GPS watch came out earlier this year with a great deal of expectation. Any why not? Who wouldn't want a GPS, altimeter, barometer, lap timer, and compass with enough memory to record up to 800 trackpoints, 500 waypoints and 50 routes? So has the Suunto X10 lived up to the hype? Mostly, say experts, and we agree.

We haven't found many faults with the Suunto x10. It's GPS is reliable, it gets a signal even in heavy foliage, it is easy to plug into the computer and view your routes or show your friends your latest outdoor conquests. The watch face shows a ton of data - battery levels, which mode you are in, GPS data, alarms....and the time (after all it is a watch, right?!).

Speaking of modes, the Suunto X10, can operate in 5 modes - Time, Altimeter/Barometer, Compass, Navigation, and Activity.

The two major downers with the Suunto X10 were the stiff buttons and the size. Of course, if you are on a knarly bushwack and you bump the watch on a branch, you wouldn't want your settings adjusted (a la the Garmin Forerunner 405) and with all the info the Suunto X10 has to display, you want to be able to see it, right? Maybe these "issues" were intentionally designed into the Suunto X10.

There is a bit of a learning curve on this thing, so once you get it take the time to read and understand the 95 page manual.
